How are we making an impact ?
Lethal Means Counseling Program
Love Lifts Us Up now supports the Emergency Department’s Lethal Means Counseling Program, which assists families of children evaluated for suicidal ideation who are determined safe to return home. As part of discharge safety planning, families receive guidance on reducing access to potentially harmful items. Love Lifts Us Up provides medication lock boxes and firearm safety locks to promote safer home environments during vulnerable periods.
Big Ideas, Real Impact.
We are thrilled to share that our recent charity bingo event raised approximately $1,000, but the impact was priceless. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide a lift installation for a family with a five-year-old child living with disabilities. This lift ensures the child can receive proper care at home, including vital nursing support. It’s a life-changing difference for that family, and it was all made possible by our incredible community. Thank you for helping us transform lives!
Books from the Stories of Hope drive have been delivered to the hospital. Through this community effort, $900 in books were donated through PaperPie, including contributions from donors and the company’s matching program. The books are being distributed to hospitalized children and their families. The drive was organized by local community member Eileen Tuite. We are grateful for the time and care that went into making this possible, and to everyone who contributed.
Pinwheel Place Partnership
Love Lifts Us Up has also partnered with Pinwheel Place, a licensed emergency and respite childcare center that provides free, confidential care to families in crisis. The organization supports parents facing urgent situations such as loss of childcare, medical or mental health emergencies, housing instability, or other unexpected challenges. We have provided diaper donations and will continue supporting this partnership to help ensure families have access to safe, trauma-informed emergency childcare when needed.
Empower Her Program
Love Lifts Us Up has partnered with the Empower Her Program at the Jane H. Booker Family Health Center. This clinic-based initiative supports women and children who lack access to basic necessities. Donations include new items such as diapers, baby supplies, feminine hygiene products, and toiletries. Through this partnership, we are extending our mission beyond the hospital setting to further support family stability within the community.
Love Lifts Us Up has helped over 1,000 families through donations totaling over $80,000.
Love Lifts Us Up is funded entirely by donations (monetary & in-kind) from community groups and volunteers, like the St. Catharine’s School Student Council and PTA Mother’s Day Diaper Drive. Groups can support local mothers, babies and children receiving care are JSUMC by hosting a resource drive any time of year at any location they choose.
